Slow Food Snail Trail No.97 June 2012
A workshop to be held at The Honest Chocolate Company
Saturday, 7th July 2012 from 10h00 – 11h30
66 Wale Street, Cape Town
Honest Chocolate is a small artisanal chocolate company based in central Cape Town. The owners, Anthony Gird and Michael de Klerk, will host a workshop where we’ll be able to make our own truffles to take home, or eat on the spot, if the temptation is too great! They’ll also tell us about the history of chocolate, and chocolate-making.
The chocolate is hand crafted in small batches using traditional, old school chocolate making methods, including hand tempering the chocolate on a granite slab tabletop and hand dipping each chocolate bonbon.
| Organic, raw cacao is used. This is higher in antioxidants and therefore even better for you than regular dark chocolate. The cacao is ethically sourced from Ecuador. There are no preservatives, additives or emulsifiers in their chocolate and it is free of dairy and processed sugar (instead of sugar they use Agave Nectar which has a very low GI). Honest Chocolate won an award for Best Speciality Product Display at the Good Food & Wine Show 2011, Cape Town.Do go to their website for more details www.honestchocolate.co.za. | ![]() |
Space for this workshop is limited, and only 12 people can be accommodated. Anthony and Michael will be moving to larger premises, and we’ll be able to hold another workshop later in the year, if you’d like us to do this.
The cost is R110 for members and R120 for guests. Bookings will close on Tuesday 3rd July. Book with Lorna van Besouw as usual.
